Posted November 07, 2018 05:24:02 NURSE HAD TO HURT A NURSING HOME A FAMILY OF COULSON AND FATHER, MARIE WILKINS, had to be evacuated from their home in the small town of Greenbank, New York, on Sunday to a local hospital.
Marie was rushed to New York Presbyterian Hospital after being found in a pool of blood and suffering from shock.
The home in Greenbank had been burglarized in January 2018 and burglar-like devices were found in the bathroom.
The burglars took the family’s belongings and the couple was forced to flee.
The husband and wife had just been married and were expecting their first child.
When they returned home the house was completely gutted.
“We just couldn’t breathe,” said a neighbor, Michael Gage.
“They smashed our window and tore down the entire kitchen.
We had no food, nothing.”
When the couple’s 7-year-old daughter was born in February, the baby had a small head injury.
The couple had just moved from New York to New Jersey, where they were planning to start a family.
They said they were grateful for the swift police response.
“I would like to thank the local authorities for doing a thorough investigation and bringing the family home safe and sound,” Gage said.
“It was a miracle.”
When news of the incident broke, many people took to social media to express their gratitude.
Many others took to Facebook and Twitter to share their sympathy and encouragement.
“Our family and friends are devastated by this tragic incident,” said neighbor Michael Gales.
“The family was so close together, and it has been a blessing to see the positive side of it.”
Gales said the family is grateful to the local police department for responding quickly.
“When a crime happens, you have to do what you can to help people,” he said.
The incident is still under investigation.
“This is a family’s worst nightmare,” said Gales, who said he was surprised that the burglars had not already returned to the home.
The Greenbank Police Department is investigating.
“What we’re trying to figure out is what’s going on here and who is this person?” said Chief Jim Gaskill.
The family’s next move is to the hospital.
“There are a lot of things that we don’t understand about this crime,” said Sgt. Sean O’Brien.
“But we do know the person is responsible for this crime.”
The couple is expecting their second child in October.
The New York Daily News reported that they have a 6-month-old baby girl.
